What is the P&G Assessment?
P&G’s online assessment is split into two parts. The first one, known as Peak performance, is a comprehensive behavioral and work style assessment.
The second part is known as the interactive assessment and it measures cognitive ability. This will be the focus of this guide, since preparing for it in advance will result in great improvement.
↑ Mock samples of P&G’s assessment
P&G’s online Assessment is similar to many other cognitive and personality tests that are used by employers, but with its own unique twist. Let’s see how and why.

Interactive Assessment Content
P&G’s Interactive assessment measures cognitive ability with a series of gamified tests . The three areas of cognitive ability that are measured in these games are:
- Numerical reasoning
- Logical deductive reasoning
- Working memoryÂ
These games require thorough preparation in advance, but the good news is that training can substantially improve your performance and as a result, have a positive impact on your candidate profile.
Let’s review these games with some sample questions
Numerical Reasoning – Digit challenge
The digit challenge assesses your ability to work with and understand numbers. You are presented with mathematical equations and are asked to fill in the missing numbers that can lead to the result on the right.
- The tricky part about this game is that you can use each number only once.
- The time limit here is 5 minutes.
- The test is adaptive, which means the questions will increase in difficulty if you keep answering them correctly.
- The equations involve just three basic operations which are addition, subtraction and multiplication.
- If you answer very few questions on this test and remain at the lower difficulty levels, your percentile score will be low and this can lead to being disqualified from the application process.
The exercises are very challenging and require a few skills among which are the estimation of quantities, mental calculations, and fast response times.
In the example above, we must start with the multiplication operation. The product of two unique numbers will have to be lower than 47, since we don’t have zero (0) as an option to fill in. Here are a few solutions:
9×5 = 45 and then we can add 2
8×5 = 40 and then we can add 7
6×7 = 42 and then we add 5

Logical Deductive Reasoning – switch challenge
You need to follow changes in the locations of shapes at the top of the funnel and find which operator can rearrange the shapes to look like the bottom set.
- The time limit here is 6 minutes and this test is also adaptive.
- Just like in the digit challenge, the tasks will become more and more difficult if you manage to answer the questions correctly. More layers of operators will be added and this will require examining multiple operators and multiple combinations, which is very time-consuming.
- If you keep getting the more difficult questions wrong, you’ll be taken back to previous levels and your score will remain low.
In the example above, we have two layers of operators. We must find a way to save time instead of examining all three operators in the first, upper layer. One way to do this is to focus on a cell that has the same value for more than one operator.
- Look at the right-most and left-most operators. They share the digit 4 in the third cell. 4 corresponds with the red hashtag in the top shape set. So we know that the hashtag is now designated the number 3. If we move on to the next operator layer, 3 is now located at cell no. 2. And if continue to the bottom shape set, cell 2 includes the hashtag. This means that the two operators with 4 in the third cell are for now valid.
- We disqualify the operator in the middle, and we continue examining these two operators by looking at a different cell. For example, if we look at the left-most operator and track the green square, we see that it is left in the same spot, cell no. 1, and it remains there in the bottom set as well.
- This means the operator on the left correctly represents the location of the green square. The right-most operator doesn’t have the digit 1 in the same cell, which immediately disqualifies it.
Thus, the correct answer is the operator on the left, 1342.

Working Memory – grid challenge
The third and last game measures working memory and is known as grid. It’s based on a known psychological test called N-back.
You’ll be asked to memorize the location and order of appearance of highlighted dots on a grid.
The twist is that you’ll be interrupted by other tasks during the appearance of those dots.
- The test includes 3 sessions of three minutes each
- The interrupting tasks are about spatial awareness

Frequently Asked Questions
How to crack the p&g online assessment
Success on the P&G assessment requires focused preparation and self-confidence. The cognitive portion of the test requires preparation in advance, which will get you to cope better with the time constraints and the tricky tasks. Understanding the specific question types will go a long way toward getting you moving through the test more quickly. Reviewing realistic practice items is the best way to get you into a good rhythm and perform to the best of your abilities on test day.
Is the P&G test hard?
How do I know if I passed the P&G online assessment?
You will be notified by email and on P&G’s careers portal on whether or not you made it to the next stage. Don’t expect them to share the exact report with you and/or the percentiles you got on each of the cognitive tests. Here is an example of an email candidates receive when they don’t pass the PEAK performance assessment:
If I fail, can I retake the test?
“You will be able to retake the online assessment after 12 months (any application completed before one year for a position at the same job level won’t be considered).”
How long is the P&G assessment test?
The net time of each game is as follows:
Digit | 5 minutes |
Switch: | 6 minutes |
Grid: | 9 minutes |
Net testing time: | 20 minutes |
However, the instructions add about 10 minutes, so prepare for 30 minutes in total.
The PEAK performance takes another 30 minutes to complete…
