What is the Omnia Cognitive Assessment?
The Omnia Cognitive Assessment is a test used by employers to assess candidates during the hiring process. It is considered a strong predictor of future work performance across a range of professions and positions, and measures general mental ability (GMA), which is a general term for abilities including reasoning skills, problem solving abilities, abstract thinking abilities, and the ability to understand new concepts. You will likely take the test on location during your interview process.

The Omnia Cognitive Assessment is made up of 57 total multiple-choice questions. Question types that assess your cognitive abilities include:
- Numerical Reasoning
- Verbal Reasoning

- Fractions and decimals
What is 32% of 400?
- 32
- 64
- 96
- 128
- 160
The correct answer is d, 128. 32% of 100 would be 32, so simply multiply 32 x 4 to find the correct answer.
Here is an example of a more difficult question:
It takes 3 painters 6 hours to paint all the walls in a 10 x 10 room. How many painters are needed to paint the walls in 3 rooms of this size in 4 hours or less?
- 12
- 13
- 14
- 15
- 16
The correct answer is 14. First, calculate how long it would take 1 painter to paint a room. If it takes 3 painters 6 hours, that means 1 painter would take three times as long, meaning it would take 18 hours. Next, calculate the total number of hours needed to paint 3 rooms: 18 hours x 3 rooms = 54 total hours. Next, to figure out how to get the total work time to 4 hours, divide the 54 hours by 4 to get 13.5. Since you can’t have half a person, you would need 14 people to complete the project in 4 hours.
Verbal Reasoning
The Verbal section contains 36 questions that assess a range of abilities, including vocabulary and general logic. Question types include:
- Verbal analogies
- Antonyms
- Logic questions
Innate is the opposite of:
- Natural
- Neutral
- Inert
- Acquired
- Basic
The correct answer is d, “acquired.” The word “innate” means inborn or natural, making “acquired” its opposite.
The verbal section also includes analogy questions like the one below:
Aberration is to anomaly as callous is to
- Insensitive
- Calculating
- Candor
- Disparate
- Laconic
The correct answer is “insensitive.” The first pair of words are synonyms for each other, just as callous and insensitive are synonyms for each other.
